Living Room Coordinator – Many Rooms

The story so far

City on a Hill began with a small team and a big vision to make a difference in our world for the glory of God. Since our inception in Melbourne in 2007, we have witnessed a special work of God’s grace as he has united hundreds of men and women around the mission of ‘knowing Jesus and making Jesus known’. City on a Hill is now a movement of eleven churches in six cities.

Inspired by the love of God, we want to be a church that is compassionate to people in need, caring for those experiencing affliction, and loving those in poverty. We are committed to mercy ministry in each of our local churches, demonstrating the hope of the gospel in word and deed. In 2009 we established Many Rooms, our charitable benevolent arm to help fulfil this mission. Many Rooms now runs several mercy ministry programs across the Movement, in partnership with our local churches, shining the light of justice, hope and love in our world, in Jesus’ name.

Since 2019, Many Rooms has been running the ‘Living Room’. The Living Room exists to diminish the sense of loneliness and isolation experienced by elderly people living in aged care or in their home. This is achieved through visits from caring volunteers who commit to visiting on a semi-regular basis to provide friendship and companionship. The Living Room runs as a program within the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS), supported by the federal Department of Health.
