THE STORY SO FAR

Our story began in 2007 with a small team and a big vision to make a difference in Melbourne for the good of all people and the glory of God.

Meeting initially as a small group bible study in a city apartment, in October of that same year we launched our first public service in a pub in Melbourne’s Docklands.

Gripped by the good news of Jesus, we prayed that God would establish a community of faith that would experience his beauty, truth, and relevance in a timely and contextual way. Like a “city on a hill” that shines in the midst of darkness, so we wanted the light, love and life of God to emanate brightly in and through our lives for our good, the good of our city and the glory of his name.

Throughout our journey, God has done incredibly more than we could ever think or imagine. We have seen hundreds of men and women find new life in Christ and enter the waters of baptism. We have celebrated with those who have reconnected back to following Jesus. We’ve seen God inspire leaders and volunteers to care for the poor and marginalised, pioneer new ministries, train leaders, equip and send out missionaries near and far, and open many doors for the gospel.

Since our inception, we have witnessed a special work of God’s grace. We are now a movement of eight churches, across five cities, united together by a vision to reach 10 cities with the beauty, truth and relevance of Jesus by planting 50 churches.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

To support the growing ministry needs of City on a Hill Melbourne, the Production Coordinator will play a key role on the Ministry team at City on a Hill Melbourne. The Production Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing all production needs and specialised production teams at City on a Hill Melbourne services and for digital events. This role will be a paid position of 4 days per week, based in Melbourne and will report directly to the Director of Ministry at City on a Hill Melbourne.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Oversee all production components for Sunday services and special events
    Vision: Ensure smooth running of all vision needs in Sunday services, including oversight and coordination of the vision team and proficient knowledge of ProPresenter software.
    Live-broadcast: Ensure smooth running of live broadcast, including oversight of live broadcast team and camera switching for live stream.
    Lighting: Drive and execute the vision for lighting in services and special events, including the building of and overseeing the lighting team.
    Audio: Ensure the smooth running of the X32 mixer and a hybrid sound mix for both physical service and livestream concurrently, including oversight of the audio team.
    Staging: Play a leading role in establishing a process of building a creative vision for staging as well as its execution.
    Production logistics: Ensure all logistics needs and set up for production areas are taken care of.
  2. Coordinate and execute the various production needs for mid-week services and digital events/initiatives
    – Coordinate and oversee the various technical and production needs for digital worship events, prayer events, digital Q&As, digital teaching series etc.
    – Oversee the production (capture and edit) of video content for Melbourne digital initiatives and mini-campaigns (incl. discipleship program, mid-week teaching series, announcements and communications needs, sermons, interviews, social clips etc.).
  3. Production volunteers care, training and coordination
    – Coordinate the various production teams who serve on a Sunday, at special services and for digital initiatives, ensuring that team leaders are supported in the recruitment and scheduling of the volunteers in their teams.
    – Oversee the best structure for production team leaders and volunteers on a Sunday in consultation with the Director of Ministry.
    – Oversee production volunteer investment, training and care, building a sense of unity and team among volunteers and leaders in the production space and opportunities for development in leadership and their area of expertise.
  4. Specialisation in one or two areas of production (depending on the candidate)
    – While the Production Coordinator role is primarily a leadership position in the area of production and therefore requires generalised knowledge across a large array of areas, there is a possibility for the role to be tailored based on specific areas of specialisation and knowledge in the ideal candidate.
  5. Develop a production strategy for City on a Hill Melbourne physical services, livestream and mid-week digital content.

 

KEY SKILL, COMPETENCY AND CHARACTER REQUIREMENTS

  1. Fulfil the character qualifications outlined for a deacon in 1 Timothy 3:8-13.
  2. A demonstrated passion for Jesus, his church and his mission.
  3. Alignment with the vision, mission and cultural distinctives of City on a Hill.
  4. Professional technical experience, with a focus in AVL or other relevant field.
  5. Ability to recruit, train and grow volunteer teams and leaders in the production area.
  6. Manage leaders and volunteers across multiple projects.
  7. Excellent professional skills including: time management, efficiency, work capacity, project management, organisation and team leadership.
  8. Ability to maintain trust, discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive personal and church information.
  9. (Desirable) Specialised production expertise in at least one area of production (e.g. vision, video production, lighting, sound, audio etc.).

 

CHARACTER

All City on a Hill staff must hold a current Victorian Working with Children Check, a National Police History Check that returns no disclosed outcomes that would exclude you from the role, and uphold the standards outlined in the Anglican Church of Australia Faithfulness in Service code of personal behaviour for church workers.
