City on a Hill is a church that exists ‘to know Jesus and make Jesus known’. We are committed to raising up gospel hearted leaders, to build healthy churches, which will reach and serve cities with the gospel of Jesus. City on a Hill now meets in nine locations across Australia - including Melbourne’s West, a church which began in April 2014, and is now a community of around 350 people.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

City on a Hill Melbourne West is seeking to employ a ‘Music Team Co-ordinator’, responsible for overseeing our music ministry. This is a paid position, beginning as a 1 day per week role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. lead the congregation in worshipful music and singing at Sunday gatherings and other events (eg. worship nights)
  2. help in selecting appropriate songs for Sunday services and other events
  3. ongoing management of our song library, liaising with Pastors to introduce new songs
  4. identify, assess and integrate new musicians into the team
  5. provide ongoing training for musicians, helping all musicians develop their gifts
  6. build a mutually supportive music team where each member is committed to developing their character, passion, and technical proficiency
  7. continue to shape the vision and philosophy of music ministry at West

KEY SKILLS AND GIFTING

The successful applicant should have:

  1. proven character and competency in line with the biblical qualifications of Christian leaders (eg. 1 Timothy 3:8-13),
  2. a humble, teachable spirit and a desire to grow in the service of God,
  3. a robust understanding of the gospel and the Scriptures,
  4. the ability to recruit, lead and develop volunteer leaders,
  5. musical gifts and the ability to lead others in worship,
  6. ability to effectively and efficiently communicate, manage time, and prioritize duties and responsibilities, and
  7. a commitment to maintain trust and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.

SUPPORT

The Music Team Co-ordinator will have access to the following support mechanisms:

  • regular meetings with the LP of City on a Hill – Melbourne West for supervision and coaching,
  • participation in regular staff meetings, at both a local and movement-wide level, and
  • opportunities for both theological and practical development.

CHARACTER

All City on a Hill staff must hold a current Working with Children Check, complete a National Police History Check that returns no disclosed outcomes that would exclude them from the role, and uphold the standards outlined in the Anglican Church of Australia Faithfulness in Service code of personal behaviour for church workers.
