City on a Hill would not exist without the many faithful volunteers who love Jesus, love the church, and are actively on mission with us to Know Jesus and Make Jesus Known. Today we continue our On Mission blog series by meeting one of our awesome volunteers who gives generously of their time and talent by serving in various ministries and teams throughout the church.
Today we meet Kenneth.
What do you do? (Outside of serving at COAH)
I am currently working at LightMelbourne (89.9 LightFM & LightDigital) as the Head of Engineering. My job involves looking after all of the on-air and office IT, as well as the back-end of our websites. I also do a bit of graphic design and video production for the station.
You serve as part of the Video Sermons team that capture our sermons each week. Why is your team critical to the mission of City on a Hill?
The Video Sermons team is crucial to the mission of City on a Hill in two ways; the first being that anyone can watch the video sermons anywhere in the world. We have had a couple of thousand downloads since we launched in May from over 10 countries!
The second is that it assists City on a Hill: West and City on a Hill: Geelong in providing video sermons to be played every few weeks.
What does it look like to serve on your team?
The Video Sermon team arrives at Hoyts Melbourne Central at 7.30am on a Sunday morning, and sets up all of the cameras. We then film each sermon from both the 9am and 10.30am services. Camera operators serve in either service, or can server over the two services.
What do you enjoy most about serving on your team?
It’s great knowing that whatever is captured by the team will be used at both City on a Hill: West and City on a Hill: Geelong, and will also be made available at the City on a Hill website, where it is accessible to anyone. I also enjoy taking part in being part of the City on a Hill Media Team each Sunday morning.
What opportunities currently exist to serve on your team?
Right now we require camera operators to help out each Sunday morning with filming the sermons.
Their are many opportunities to serve at City on a Hill, and each of these opportunities exist because they are a crucial part of our mission to Know Jesus and Make Jesus Known. If you are not currently serving at City on a Hill, or you know someone who isn’t, now is the time to sign up to serve and be part of the mission. If you’ve got an interest or skills for this team then join Kenneth on mission by serving as part of the Video Sermons team!
