City on a Hill is passionate about empowering and equipping the next generation of leaders to impact our city for the glory of God. A key part of this is our Engage internship program, which provides emerging leaders an opportunity to engage with God’s word, engage in ministry and mission, and engage with God’s call on their lives.
The Engage program has three main components:
On Sundays our Interns function as ‘hosts’, setting up the venue and then working to ensure each individual is welcomed and engaged. They may function as a service manager, welcomer or team leader, or assist in setting up and administering communion, teaching in City Kidz. Training and support is provided in all areas.
Interns participate in regular training sessions, with both theological and practical training provided by the Pastors and staff of City on a Hill. These small group seminar discussions are designed to provide a broad theological foundation, with an emphasis on heart response and real-world application. They are augmented by practical training sessions, designed to equip Interns for ministry long-term.
At the heart of the Engage program is the ministry portfolio; a 1+ day-a-week placement in a specific area of ministry that fits their gifts and passions, and corresponds to needs within the church. Interns will be given genuine responsibility, with a range of regular tasks and major projects that will stretch abilities and develop skills. These will be performed with extensive training and support from a Supervisor – a member of staff trained and experienced in this area of ministry.
We have a number of exciting new ministry portfolios opening up in 2014:
Working alongside the Kingdom Pastor, this is an expansive position offering opportunities to work in the planning of evangelism events such as Introducing Jesus, baptism preparation classes, and the Acts 29 National Conference.
Assist with the organization and hosting of Newcomer Nights and community-wide events, participate in 1:1 ministry, and aid database management.
Assistant to the Executive Director (Ministry)
A broad role encompassing the co-ordination and support of Sunday services, volunteer teams, ministry directors, special projects, major events and City Steps goal implementation.
Play a key role in the Research Department of City on a Hill, contributing to teaching resources, the church website, and developing a shared research ‘centre’, accessible for teaching programs.
Assist in the management of on-screen elements at our Sunday services, supervising volunteers, developing in-service presentations, and contributing to video production.
Contribute to the design of promotional graphics for events, courses and teaching series, as well as develop a ‘Brand Style Guide’ to be used across multiple church locations.

Policy Development Internship
