Happy New Year, City on A Hill!
The sun is out, the warm weather has settled in, and we trust you enjoyed the Christmas celebrations.
As the year begins, some of us will be reflecting with nostalgia on the good moments and memories we’ve left behind; while others will remember the loved ones who are no longer with us, or the goals and opportunities no longer within reach.
Into this mosaic of pleasure and pain, the Gospel shines like last night’s fireworks. The Gospel reveals the beauty of God's great love and mercy towards us. In the Gospel we know a God who is the same in all seasons –
the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
His mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:22-23)
Did you hear that as you moved into the new year? God's mercy is new for you today, it is new for you this year and His steadfast love will not cease for you, in Christ, through every trial and triumph that 2014 will see.
We pray 2014 would be your most fruitful year in coming to terms with the beauty and majesty of Jesus in the Gospel.
We think one of the best ways to begin a new year is by praising God for who He is. To do that, we're going to kick off with a new series – 'Songs of Summer: Part II'. We want to bask in the truth of the Psalms, and let their richness fill our hearts and minds with joy! In this season when the car windows are rolled down and the music festivals roll on, let us join in the chorus by studying truth-saturated psalms.
Our services start this Sunday, January 5th, and will continue each Sunday in Melbourne at 9am, 10:30am and 6:00pm, and in Geelong at 10:30am. We'd love to have you join us!
We can't wait to see what God does in and through you this year. May it be a year which results in 'the praise of His glory' (Ephesians 1:12).
See you Sunday!
